Rosie O'Donnell, the iconic comedian and actress, has made a surprising confession that may raise a few eyebrows. Despite her long-standing opposition to cosmetic surgery, the 64-year-old recently revealed she underwent a secret facelift back in January. The decision, as she poetically penned in her Substack piece titled 'Decisions,' stirred a whirlwind of emotions within her.
"It cost more money than I have ever paid for a car," O'Donnell candidly admitted. This revelation not only reflects the financial commitment she made but also her internal struggle with the procedure.
For years, O'Donnell stood firmly against facelifts, viewing them as a betrayal of feminism and the natural aging process. However, after shedding 50 pounds (22.6 kilograms), she found herself reconsidering her stance. "My privileged place in the world," she reflected, "and that feels almost shameful to me. The things I have – earned some say, but it's the gross excess that wounds me."
Her youngest child, Clay, played a pivotal role in her decision-making process. "Clay said, 'Young women look up to you,' and finally – with strong effect – 'I wouldn't be able to respect you if you did it.' And that one … landed," she wrote, highlighting the powerful influence her children have on her choices.
"I want them to grow up in a world where they don't feel like they have to change but also know they can, if they want to, without losing moral standing in their own life." – Rosie O'Donnell
Despite the initial hesitation and delay, O'Donnell ultimately chose to proceed with the surgery, aiming to balance personal desires with the values she hopes to instill in her children. To her surprise, no one noticed the change, which she considered the best possible outcome.
Living in Ireland with her youngest child, Clay, O'Donnell is content with the results but admits to grappling with a "sense of deceit." Yet, true to her nature, she felt compelled to share her story, "For the girl I was. The woman I am. And all those joining my ranks as we carry on in act three. This is me," she declared, embracing honesty as a guiding principle throughout her career.
