Taylor Sheridan's Relocation Revelation

After swapping the glitz of Los Angeles for the wide open spaces of Texas, Taylor Sheridan has set the record straight on what it would take to lure him back to the City of Angels. On the June 29 episode of "The Bill Simmons Podcast," the 56-year-old screenwriter and producer quipped, "I’ve made it pretty clear that the only way you’re getting me back to Los Angeles is if it secedes from the Union and I’m drafted into the Army to take it back. It’s the only way." Sheridan's sharp wit left no room for doubt about his feelings.

“I spent the first 37 years of my life compromising. When I quit acting, I decided that I am going to tell my stories my way, period.” – Taylor Sheridan

Unlike L.A., Sheridan holds a soft spot for New York City, praising its resilience regardless of "whatever political wind is blowing it in any direction." He finds the foundation of Los Angeles lacking, saying, "It's built on sand. It ain't strong."

From Actors' Stage to Writers' Den

Sheridan's journey from actor to powerhouse writer and producer is nothing short of fascinating. Originally from North Carolina, he found his footing in New York City and Los Angeles before penning scripts for acclaimed films like Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River. His transition to television led to the creation of "Yellowstone," captivating audiences from 2018 to 2024 with its gripping portrayal of the Dutton family.

Beyond "Yellowstone," Sheridan has crafted a television universe with shows like "Landman," "Mayor of Kingstown," "Lioness," and "Tulsa King." In a significant career move, Sheridan secured a five-year deal with NBCUniversal starting in 2029, following the conclusion of his Paramount contract in 2028. This partnership marks a new chapter for Sheridan as he aims to create fresh content for NBCUniversal.

Hollywood's Maverick

Despite his success, Sheridan remains steadfast in his creative vision, refusing to compromise his storytelling. His collaboration with Paramount, which he describes as supportive and trusting, allowed him to push the boundaries of television production. "Because Paramount trusts me... we can treat it like a movie, and it looks like a movie," he told Deadline. Sheridan's dedication to authenticity and exploration is evident as he brings new worlds and characters to life.

With a promising future at NBCUniversal, Taylor Sheridan continues to redefine the landscape of modern television, all while staying true to his roots and steering clear of a city he no longer calls home.
