Rita Wilson is back on Broadway, and she's not holding back! In her latest venture, "Celebrity Autobiography," Wilson and a rotating cast of stars are serving up laughs by reading from the memoirs of Hollywood's elite. This playfully irreverent show uncovers the humor hidden within the pages of A-listers' life stories.

Wilson has personally met the famous women whose autobiographies she's bringing to the stage. From Elizabeth Taylor to Pamela Anderson and Celine Dion, Wilson has a deep understanding of why these icons chose to share their life stories. "In all of these people’s cases, there is and was a thirst to hear about their private lives," she revealed ahead of the show's May 18 opening night.

“We cannot fault anyone for writing these books at a time in their lives where they were very young … and taking a huge paycheck and saying, ‘Sure, I’ll write my autobiography, what do you need?'”

Wilson recounts an unforgettable dinner with Elizabeth Taylor, a night she describes as "one of the most incredible evenings of my life." Taylor, she says, was genuine and down-to-earth, exuding authenticity and confidence.

Meeting Celine Dion backstage during her Las Vegas residency, Wilson was blown away by the singer's resilience in the face of her health struggles. "She’s just an incredible woman in every way, also so courageous, so strong," Wilson said, expressing her admiration for Dion's strength.

Pamela Anderson: More Than Meets the Eye

Wilson also cherishes her meeting with Pamela Anderson in Malibu, praising her as an "amazing woman, an incredible mother, very sweet, very present." Both women have portrayed Roxy Hart in "Chicago" on Broadway, and Wilson respects Anderson's journey from sex symbol to a more nuanced public persona.

No Memoir Plans for Wilson

Despite her knack for bringing others' stories to life, Wilson has no plans to pen her own memoir. Laughing, she admits, "Oh, no, I probably would not. I’m a very private person in a very public profession."

With "Celebrity Autobiography" running at the Shubert Theatre until August 16, audiences have plenty of time to catch this comedic celebration of celebrity lives.
