Olivia Sets the Record Straight

Olivia Wilde isn't letting the rumor mill get to her. After years of whispers about drama on the 'Don't Worry Darling' set, the film's director has finally spoken out about the alleged 'screaming match' with star Florence Pugh. During an interview with The Cut, published on June 24, Wilde firmly denied the rumors: "I have never had a screaming match on my set," the 'House' alum declared. "I was never not available on set. I wanted to be like, 'None of this is true.'"

“I have never had a screaming match on my set," the House alum told The Cut. "I was never not available on set. I wanted to be like, ‘None of this is true.’”

Reflecting on the Experience

Although it took nearly four years for Wilde to address the swirling rumors of on-set tension, she now looks back on that chapter of her life with clarity. Wilde – who dated Harry Styles after meeting him during the film – admitted that the experience "robbed me of my naïveté for sure." Yet, she found solace in her peers, recalling advice from Pamela Anderson and Jennifer Garner. Wilde shared Garner's words: "She said it’s like you get cast in a soap opera by the public."

The Villainous Archetype

Wilde has been candid about her portrayal by the media. "I became the full-on villain. Like Cruella," she said, while refusing to play into the 'mean girl' narrative. At a press conference in September 2022, she addressed the endless speculation: "The internet feeds itself. I don't feel the need to contribute. I think it's sufficiently well-nourished."

Florence Pugh Moves On

Pugh, on her part, has also moved past the drama, telling Vanity Fair in 2023 that she wouldn't delve into the "nitty-gritty details" of the set experience. After the film wrapped, Wilde took a much-needed break to reconnect with her children, Otis and Daisy, and returned to her career with renewed strength.

More Celebrity Feuds

Wilde's story isn't unique in Hollywood. From Tan France and Bobby Berk's off-screen tiff to Sharon Osbourne's candid remarks about Ashton Kutcher, celebrity feuds are as common as they are captivating. Each of these stories reminds us that the spotlight can sometimes shine a little too brightly.
