Julia Roberts Steps into a New Role

Julia Roberts is gearing up to dazzle audiences once again as she joins the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of 'Home Economics,' a novel by Katy Hays that’s already generating plenty of buzz. The highly competitive publishing auction ended with the novel landing at Penguin Random House’s Viking imprint, Pamela Dornan Books. Though the book won’t hit shelves until 2027, it has already secured deals in 11 international territories, setting the stage for a global phenomenon.

“I’m thrilled to bring this intriguing story to life on screen,” Roberts shared, hinting at the excitement surrounding this project.

Behind the Scenes: Production Powerhouse

Julia isn’t just starring in this promising adaptation – she’s also taking the reins as a producer. Teaming up with Lisa Roberts Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill through their Red Om Films label, and joining forces with Marc Platt of Marc Platt Productions, this film promises to be a powerhouse production. While the plot details are being kept under wraps, the combination of talent both in front of and behind the camera ensures that anticipation will only grow.

Julia's Thriving Career

This new venture adds another feather to Roberts' illustrious cap. Recently, she wowed audiences in the Amazon MGM Studios film 'After the Hunt,' which earned her a Best Actress nomination at the Golden Globes. Always a red carpet favorite, she made an appearance at the award show with her husband, Danny Moder. Up next, she’s set to star in Warner Bros.' thriller 'Panic Carefully,' alongside a stellar cast including Elizabeth Olsen and Eddie Redmayne.

Beyond her career, Julia celebrated a personal milestone in November 2025, marking the 21st birthday of her twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus, with a heartfelt Instagram tribute. It's clear that both on and off screen, Julia Roberts continues to captivate and inspire.
