Elle King, the soulful singer known for her hit "Ex's & Oh's," recently shared a personal revelation that has been a game-changer in her life. In a candid discussion with Us Weekly, King disclosed that she was diagnosed with autism, a discovery that has brought clarity to many aspects of her life that once seemed puzzling.
"Everything makes so much sense now," King shared, reflecting on how her diagnosis has helped her piece together the parts of herself that never quite fit before. This revelation came while promoting "Nation's Dumbest," a new celebrity competition series on Fox, where the goal is to avoid being the last contestant standing.
“Everything makes so much sense now,” King told Us Weekly, adding that she did not know at the time she filmed the Fox series.
Interestingly, King learned about her autism diagnosis after filming "Nation's Dumbest," a show she initially joined due to her love for games and puzzles. The diagnosis prompted her to reevaluate her experience on the show, where she had initially feared being labeled "the nation's dumbest." This anxiety led her to take an IQ test, which she aced with a score of 132, only to retake it out of disbelief and achieve the same result.
King is now focused on using this newfound understanding to reshape her life. She is setting "new kinds of safety barricades" and prioritizing time with people who make her feel secure. This pivot represents a broader effort to change how she navigates life, aiming to embrace her roles as an artist and performer more fully.
As she continues to learn what her diagnosis means, King is determined not to revert to old patterns. Instead, she is committed to being more present and finding joy in the next chapter of her life. "Nation's Dumbest," hosted by Jack Whitehall, launched on Fox on July 15 and is available on Hulu the following day.
