Charlize Theron had a truly memorable Mother's Day this year. The Hollywood star took to Instagram over the weekend to share some rare and precious snapshots with her daughters, Jackson, 14, and August, 11. Accompanying the adorable images was a touching message from Theron herself.
Theron posted a series of photos that captured tender moments with her daughters over the years. The first image showed the actress relaxing on a boat, her daughters peacefully napping on her chest. Another delightful picture featured the trio beaming for a selfie, with the sun casting a warm glow around them. "The greatest honor of my life!" Theron wrote, sharing her sentiment with fans and followers. "Happy Mother’s Day to all moms, oumas, and godmothers," she added, complete with a purple heart emoji.
Beyond the social media post, Theron has been open about her life with her daughters. Despite keeping them mostly out of the public eye, she occasionally shares sweet anecdotes about their interests and adventures. Recently, Theron revealed that her daughter August has taken a liking to rock climbing, a hobby Theron herself embraced while preparing for her upcoming film, "Apex."
In a chat with E! News, Theron talked about their shared climbing experiences, saying, "She's a bit of a daredevil." Theron and her professional climbing trainer, Beth Rodden, would often find themselves inspired by August's fearless approach. "Sometimes, as an adult, you get so caught up in the mechanics of it," Theron explained. "And then you just look over and these kids who know nothing, they're just like, 'Gotta get to the top.'"
Charlize Theron's journey to motherhood began with adoption, a decision she made with conviction and passion. She adopted Jackson in 2012 and August in 2015, raising them as a single mother. Theron has been candid about her choice, explaining to PEOPLE that adoption was always her first choice for creating a family. "Even when I was in relationships, I was always honest with my partners, that adoption was how my family would look one day," she shared. "This was definitely not a second option for me. It was always my first."
