Tilda Swinton and David Bowie always felt like two sides of the same coin – kindred spirits who blurred the lines between gender, art, and identity. Their connection was palpable, especially when they shared the screen in his 2013 music video, "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)," where their mirrored presence was almost uncanny. Tilda herself once mused, “He just looked like me, and looked like someone from the same planet as I did.”
So when she stepped out for the opening night of the new David Bowie Centre at the V&A East Storehouse in London, her outfit was as inevitable as it was intentional. She wore a sharp-cut, sky blue sequined blazer and trousers from the Tom Ford Fall 2025 collection, a perfect choice given her new role as the face of the brand’s fragrance. But beyond the brand tie-in, the suit itself was pure Bowie. Wide-cut trousers, shimmering texture, and that electric pastel hue all conjured memories of Bowie’s pale blue tailoring – most famously seen in the "Life on Mars" video, and again during his Serious Moonlight Tour in 1983.
Swinton didn’t over-style it. No exaggerated hair this time, no theatrics – just chartreuse sharp pointy pumps and a suit that spoke volumes. It wasn’t costume, it was homage. Effortless, intelligent, and the kind of tribute only Tilda could deliver. A fitting nod from one icon to another.
