Celebrity Runners Ready to Race

The London Marathon is set to be a star-studded affair this year, with a dazzling lineup of celebrities ready to hit the streets. Among the famous faces are actress Cynthia Erivo and actor James Norton. They’ll be joined by a host of sports icons, including four-time Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel, Olympic sailor Sir Ben Ainslie, and cycling sensation Dame Laura Kenny.

Sports Legends Join the Fun

These sports legends won’t be alone. Joining them will be champion jockey Sir Anthony McCoy and cricket legend Sir Alastair Cook. The streets of London on Sunday will also see the likes of former England captain Tony Adams, McFly’s drummer Harry Judd, and TV chef Tilly Ramsay pounding the pavement.

Charity at the Heart

This year’s marathon is not just about the race; it’s about the causes. Fitness guru Joe Wicks, along with children’s TV character Daddy Pig, are running to raise money for the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS). Erivo is racing to support The King’s Trust and Shameless Fund, while Norton is backing Breakthrough T1D, inspired by his own journey with type 1 diabetes.

“I’m thrilled to be running for such important causes,” said James Norton, reflecting on his philanthropic involvement.

Sinners actor O’Connell is making his marathon debut in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK. Meanwhile, Judd, a seasoned runner, will be raising funds for a cause close to his heart. Cricket legend Sir Alastair is once again supporting the Ruth Strauss Foundation.

Debut Runners and Returning Faces

Olympic hero Sir Ben is taking on the marathon for the first time, championing the education charity he helped launch. Vettel, who recently retired from racing, is running for the Brain & Spine Foundation and the Grand Prix Trust. Dame Laura, Britain’s most decorated female Olympian, is also making her marathon debut for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.

Tilly Ramsay is running in support of Feeding Britain, while Tony Adams is tackling the marathon for the first time at 59, supporting #TeamForward. Other familiar faces include Game Of Thrones star Samantha Spiro and Traitors winner Harry Clark.

Expectations and Preparations

With sunny skies and temperatures expected to reach 19°C, runners are advised to stay hydrated and dress light. This marathon promises to be not only a test of endurance but a celebration of philanthropy and community spirit.
