Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, the beloved Hollywood power couple, just proved that being supportive parents sometimes means breaking the rules. Recently, they executed the ultimate surprise by flying across the pond to London to watch their daughter Lola's first live performance. And get this – she had specifically asked them not to come!
Lola, their only daughter, took to the stage like a seasoned rockstar, only to be left speechless when she spotted her parents in the audience. "Shut up," she exclaimed into the mic, visibly emotional. "If anyone's confused, my parents just flew in to surprise me," she added, holding back tears. After her set, the family shared a touching moment filled with hugs and joy.
“She was so nervous leading up to this thing. And we wanted to go, but we didn’t want to add any more pressure by us being there,” Mark said on Live with Kelly and Mark. "She told us not to go, specifically," Ripa added.
Determined to support Lola without adding to the pressure, Mark and Kelly devised a stealthy plan. They decided to sneak into the concert, donning hats reminiscent of the Peaky Blinders. "The first part of the caper is we went and bought hats, like Peaky Blinders style," Mark explained. However, their covert mission took an unexpected turn when the entrance was right beside the stage, forcing them to improvise.
“So we had to stay around the corner, and Kelly was filming it, and I was crouched down underneath her arm, because I wanted to see it,” Mark shared. Despite the hiccup, the couple was thrilled to witness Lola's performance live. "She was incredible. So, so proud of her. So impressed. She was so funny. She was really funny," Kelly gushed.
Lola's shining moment came shortly after the release of her debut EP, "Sorry, it’s all about me," which features five tracks, following her 2024 debut single, "Paranoia Silverlining." Interestingly, Lola's musical talent seems to have emerged out of the blue, as Kelly confessed in a 2022 interview with Access Hollywood that neither she nor Mark possess any musical abilities.
“She definitely is interested in you know, well I guess showbiz is the record industry, but it’s like, we have no musical talent between the three of us,” Ripa said, including her son Michael in the mix. “But she definitely has all the talent for all of us. So yeah, I think that’s in her future.”
The couple, who also have sons Michael and Joaquin, couldn't be prouder of Lola's achievements and are excited to see where her musical journey takes her next.
