The Great British Sewing Bee is back with its much-anticipated celebrity Christmas special, and this year promises to be an absolute cracker! With a fresh face in the host's seat, the endlessly funny Sophie Willan, this holiday treat is one you won't want to miss. Prepare for an evening filled with creativity and cheer as the special airs on Christmas Eve.
This festive episode will see fashion judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young challenge five well-known celebrities. Look out for Strictly Come Dancing's Anton Du Beke, comedian Lucy Beaumont, actress Susan Wokoma, and Gladiator's own Tom Wilson, aka Hammer. These stars will face off in friendly competition, tackling tasks like transforming second-hand party attire into outfits inspired by The Twelve Days of Christmas.
The celebrity contestants will also design outfits for real-life models, inspired by their favorite Christmas treats. Imagine a dress echoing the flavors of blue cheese and onion or a ballgown reminiscent of a champagne flute! "Esme was fabulous and can spot a dropped stitch from across the room," Anton Du Beke remarked, highlighting the judges' keen eyes.
"Patrick says the show is 'just endlessly funny and fun,' while Esme confesses that since she hasn't owned a television since the 1970s, she had no idea what to expect from the celebrities... But she says they were a 'great bunch this year, so much fun' – and that she danced with most of them!"
While Anton is known for his dance moves, he surprised many with his sewing skills. "He's been making ball gowns for years and years," Lucy Beaumont revealed, comparing his expertise to that of a renowned designer. With such a talented lineup, the competition is sure to be fierce and entertaining. Who will stitch their way to victory?
