Savannah Guthrie, the well-known "Today" anchor, has released a fourth heartfelt video on Instagram, addressing the troubling disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie. In the video shared on February 9, Savannah expressed her deep concern and called the situation a "nightmare," as they continue to search for answers.
"We believe our mom is still out there," Savannah said, urging the public to join the search efforts. "We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly, around the clock trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken, and we don't know where, and we need your help."
"We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help," Savannah pleaded in the video, reaching out to followers for any information that might lead to her mother's safe return.
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her home near Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. Authorities believe she was taken against her will, but so far, no suspects have been identified. The family has been actively releasing videos on social media, hoping to communicate with the alleged kidnapper.
The FBI is currently investigating ransom notes linked to the disappearance, with two deadlines mentioned in a note received on February 5. Special agent Heith Janke confirmed the investigation of a "new message regarding Nancy Guthrie," though details remain undisclosed.
In previous videos, the Guthrie family addressed the alleged kidnapper directly. Savannah and her siblings expressed their readiness to talk, emphasizing the need to confirm their mother's well-being.
"However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated," Savannah mentioned in one video, highlighting the importance of verifying Nancy's safety.
Savannah's brother, Camron Guthrie, also reached out in a video, urging the kidnapper to make contact. "Whoever is out there holding our mother, we want to hear from you," he said, emphasizing the family's desperation.
The Guthrie family has received overwhelming support from the public, with prayers and well-wishes pouring in for Nancy's safe return. Savannah expressed her gratitude, believing that these prayers are providing strength in this dark time.
The FBI continues to work with the family, offering advice and recommendations, though the decision to release videos remains with the Guthries. "While we advise and recommend from a law enforcement perspective, any action taken on any ransom is ultimately decided by the family," Heith Janke stated.
As the investigation continues, the Guthrie family remains hopeful for Nancy's safe return, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing her home.
