Ruth Codd, the standout star from Celebrity Traitors, has once again captured hearts with her latest health update. The 29-year-old Irish actress, who first had a leg amputated at 23 due to a persistent football injury, recently revealed on social media that she has undergone a second below-the-knee amputation. While currently wheelchair-bound, she's staying positive and is eager to get back on her feet – literally – with a new artificial leg.
Taking to Instagram, Codd shared a selfie accompanied by a cheeky one-finger salute, humorously announcing her intentions to "resume world domination" once she's mobile again. In her own words, "After a brief hiatus, world domination and winding up middle-aged white men shall resume as of 10am. New legs loading."
“Hi guys, so I have some good news and some bad news. Good news, we’ve had a full circle moment, I’m back making TikTok content in my parents’ house; bad news, I can’t do it in front of that lovely blue floral wallpaper anymore, due to the fact that, that room is upstairs, and I’ve just had my second below-knee amputation.”
Codd's journey hasn't been easy. Her decision to amputate her second leg was driven by worsening nerve pain that had plagued her for years, impacting her mental health. Reflecting on her struggles, she once told the Irish Examiner, "For years, I didn’t see it getting any better. I was stuck in a really bad mindset and I was p****d off at life." However, since making the decision, she feels a sense of relief and optimism for the future.
Codd's rise to fame is as inspiring as her personal journey. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she became a TikTok sensation, creating content around comedy and disability awareness. This led to her discovery by Netflix, resulting in her casting in The Midnight Club without prior acting experience. She later starred in the acclaimed horror miniseries, The Fall of the House of Usher.
Reflecting on her time in the Traitors castle, Codd remarked, "I mean … to say it’s been surreal … I’m not sure that I’m not about to be woken up from a very weird dream." Her resilience and humor continue to resonate with fans worldwide, proving that Codd is not just surviving but thriving.
