Recently, she dropped a bombshell by naming Keanu Reeves – Hollywood's ultimate nice guy – as her most challenging guest. During her appearance on the Australian talk show Sam Pang Tonight on October 13, Rosie didn't hold back.
"One of the worst, who, I love the guy, but he’s not good on talk shows: Keanu Reeves," she revealed, leaving the audience in shock.
“He’s so sweet, he looks gorgeous, I love all his movies, but he would not answer a question,” Rosie explained.
Rosie took a trip down memory lane, recalling Reeves' 1997 stint on The Rosie O’Donnell Show. It was a live broadcast, and Keanu's short, one-word answers were a host's nightmare. "I’d say, ‘So, Keanu, how’s it going? How are you feeling?’ ‘Good.’ … We were live. We couldn’t retape. I finally said after like three minutes, ‘You know, Keanu, it is a talk show. You have to talk.’”
Thankfully, Reeves got the hang of it on subsequent appearances, and Rosie was quick to praise him as "a lovely man and a good-hearted guy." She was careful to add, "I don’t wanna throw him under the bus."
But Rosie couldn't resist a cheeky nod to another infamous episode. She briefly mentioned her fiery 1999 interview with Tom Selleck, which turned heads following the Columbine tragedy. Selleck, who was featured in an NRA ad, faced Rosie's pointed questions about gun control. "It was very awkward," she admitted, "because I had never been unkind or controversial."
This heated exchange made headlines, with Selleck accusing Rosie of questioning his humanity. It's clear that, even years later, O'Donnell's talk show days are still full of surprises and stories worth retelling.
