Olivia Jean and Jack White are closing the curtain on their whirlwind romance after more than three years together. On June 3, Jean filed for divorce in Nashville, pointing to "irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct" as the reasons behind the split. According to documents obtained by USA TODAY, this conduct includes behavior that makes it "unsafe and improper" for them to continue living together.
“I hope to enter into a written Marital Dissolution Agreement," Jean stated, expressing a desire for a smooth division of their assets.
Jean, 36, is seeking alimony and hopes to remain the beneficiary of White's life insurance. Additionally, she wants him to continue covering her health insurance. The filing also requests that White foot the bill for her legal expenses in the divorce proceedings.
The rock duo's relationship kicked off with a bang when they tied the knot in December 2022 during one of White's concerts in Detroit. The audience was in for a surprise as White brought Jean onstage for a duet of "Hotel Yorba." Before the song ended, White popped the question in front of a cheering crowd.
The spontaneity didn't stop there. Moments after Jean said "yes," they returned to the stage for a live wedding ceremony, officiated by Third Man Records' Ben Swank. This was White's third marriage, having previously been wed to Meg White and Karen Elson.
As the dust settles, fans are left to ponder what went wrong in this musical marriage that began with such a memorable performance.
