Robert Irwin, the 21-year-old conservationist, is not just following in his family’s footsteps at the Australia Zoo, but he’s also hoping to mirror their romantic journeys. Inspired by the love stories of his parents and sister, Robert is eagerly waiting to find love with an American tourist.
Robert's parents, Steve and Terri Irwin, have a love story straight out of a movie. Terri was an American tourist visiting Australia when she met Steve at a reptile park. "My mum was an American tourist. Came over from Oregon. She went into a little roadside reptile park, met a bloke in khaki shorts that was feeding a crocodile and the rest is history," Robert shared in a Tourism Australia video.
“I'm waiting for my American tourist. When's she coming?” Robert asked in a video as part of Australia's Come and Say G'Day campaign.
Bindi Irwin, Robert’s sister, also found her soulmate in an American tourist. She met her husband, Chandler Powell, during his visit to the Australia Zoo. Now, Robert feels it’s his turn to find a special someone.
While Robert is currently dazzling audiences on Dancing With The Stars, he remains single. Despite his busy schedule, he’s ready for a relationship. He's just waiting for the right moment. "It’s funny, I'm at this point in my life where I'm like, I'm so open to [a relationship], but I'm just waiting for the stars to align," he told PEOPLE earlier this year.
As Robert continues his search for love, fans are eagerly watching to see if he will meet his American tourist and continue the Irwin family tradition of cross-continental romance.
