In a candid chat, the beloved actress shared how she’s taken on a new, more relaxed approach to raising her youngest son. Now, she's more of a "go with the flow" kind of mom – mostly because she admits to being "wrung-out and tired."
During an episode of The Interview, Reese spilled the details on her evolving parenting techniques. When asked by host Lulu Garcia-Navarro whether she feels different as a parent this time around, Reese's response was a resounding, "Oh, for sure."
“I’m exhausted. I’m completely wrung-out and tired,” Reese confessed, emphasizing the toll of years of parenting.
She went on to explain that her youngest son often gets the benefit of her fatigue-driven leniency. "Whenever I lose my cool, I turn to my youngest and I go, ‘You got to call your brother and sister. They wore me out. I’m so tired. Like, eat the cookie. Go to bed late. Just do it, you know, but like, think about how it’s going to make you feel,’” she shared.
The busy actress and producer, who shares two adult children – Ava and Deacon – with actor Ryan Phillippe, and a 12-year-old son, Tennessee, with Jim Toth, clearly has a lot on her plate. “I’m so tired. I’ve been parenting for 25 years,” she remarked, capturing the essence of her journey.
Reese also reflected on the different paths she and her children have taken. She noted the contrast between her own life at 25 and her daughter Ava’s. "Well, it’s interesting. Because last year, she turned 25 and when I was 25, she was a year and a half old and I had just done Legally Blonde. And I was about to start Sweet Home Alabama. We just are living very different … different life existences, realities.”
Earlier this year, Reese shared the valuable life lessons her three kids have taught her, proving that even seasoned parents continue to learn and adapt. Her candid reflections paint a relatable picture for many parents navigating the ever-changing landscape of raising children.
