Neighbours Fans Face Disheartening News

Fans of the beloved soap opera, Neighbours, have been holding their breath for news of another revival. However, Rebekah Elmaloglou, a key figure from the show's cast, has poured some cold water on those hopes. After stepping out of the jungle in I'm a Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here! Australia, she spoke candidly with TV Tonight about the show's future.

Why a Revival Seems Unlikely

In her recent chat, Elmaloglou expressed gratitude for the unwavering fan support, saying, “The fan groups are still going strong, and there’s still so much hope out there.” Despite this, she believes a reboot is not on the cards anytime soon. "I think Jason (Herbison, producer) is probably going to leave it be for a while," she shared. "I think he needs a break. I think everyone needs a break.”

Elmaloglou Reflects on Her Journey

Elmaloglou, who joined Neighbours in 2013 as Terese Willis, became well-known for her character's tumultuous romance with Paul Robinson, portrayed by Stefan Dennis. She remained a staple of the series until its initial farewell in 2022, only to return for its Amazon-backed revival in 2023, which wrapped up again by 2025. Reflecting on the journey, she mentioned, “I don’t know. I think it may be finished this time round. But the fan groups are still going.”

Looking Ahead

After placing fourth on I'm a Celebrity, Elmaloglou is optimistic about her future. "I’m hoping this bloody show opens up doors for work for me, not just acting, but all sorts of other things, like presenting," she told TV Tonight. Meanwhile, Neighbours aficionados can reminisce with classic episodes available on the show's YouTube channel or catch episodes from 2011 to the 2025 finale on Amazon Prime.
