Priscilla Presley, now 80, is opening up about a chapter of her life that could have taken a deadly turn. In her upcoming memoir, *Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis*, she shares never-before-heard tales from her life with Elvis Presley. One revelation? Her fear that Elvis might have shot her then-lover, Rob Kardashian, had he discovered him in her bed.
In an excerpt obtained by Page Six, Priscilla reflects, “(Elvis would) have gone ballistic, maybe literally, if he’d known Robert was in my bedroom. Elvis always carried a loaded gun, sometimes more than one.” The King of Rock 'n' Roll's obsession with firearms was no secret, and Priscilla's concern for Rob's safety was very real.
“Robert was a sweet man, and I liked him,” Priscilla writes, shedding light on her fondness for the Hollywood attorney.
The romance between Priscilla and Robert Kardashian blossomed in 1975, two years after her divorce from Elvis. Before Rob, she had a relationship with karate instructor Mike Stone. Although the relationship with Rob was sweet, Priscilla notes that his demanding career in Hollywood made things challenging.
Robert Kardashian, known for his legal prowess, later married Kris Jenner in 1978. The couple had four children before their 1991 divorce. Robert passed away from cancer in 2003 at the age of 59.
Jerry Oppenheimer, in his 2017 book *The Kardashians: An American Drama*, detailed Priscilla and Robert's relationship, revealing that Robert had hoped to marry Priscilla and have children. Priscilla’s friend, Joni Migdal, shared, “Priscilla made Robert very happy. He wanted to marry her and have children with her. That was definitely his hope, his plan.”
Even after their divorce, Elvis continued to be a presence in Priscilla’s life. Friends recall Robert mentioning late-night calls from Elvis, sometimes incoherent. Priscilla would reportedly let Robert listen in, placing the receiver between them in bed. Elvis, it seems, was not keen on Priscilla dating anyone else, especially because of their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.
Elvis passed away in 1977 at the age of 42. Tragically, Lisa Marie died in January 2023 from cardiac arrest, aged 54. Despite the years and life's twists, Priscilla cherished her memories with Robert. "Robert and I had one last conversation before he died. He was the kindest of men, and I remember him with great affection," she writes.
Priscilla's memoir, *Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis*, is set to hit shelves on September 23, promising more intimate glimpses into her life and loves.
