Nick Jonas is taking a brave step by revisiting one of the most terrifying chapters of his life. During a candid appearance on the "Jay Shetty Podcast," Jonas opened up about the dramatic birth of his daughter Malti, whom he shares with his wife Priyanka Chopra. The couple welcomed Malti in 2022, but her arrival was anything but ordinary.
Jonas shared, "She came to the world under sort of very intense circumstances, which I’ve not really talked about ever." Malti was born three months premature, a fact that led to a whirlwind of emotions and challenges for the family.
“These angels at the NICU kind of resuscitated her in that moment," Jonas revealed, highlighting the critical role the medical team played during those early, fragile days.
Jonas detailed the heart-wrenching experience of his daughter's early days, explaining how they expected her to arrive in April, but instead received news that her birth would be much sooner. Malti was born via surrogate, weighing just one pound, 11 ounces, and in need of immediate medical attention.
The couple spent every day for three and a half months at the NICU, witnessing their little fighter slowly gain strength and weight. Jonas described the mixed emotions of comfort and fear as they watched other families face similar battles.
After months of tireless care and multiple blood transfusions, Jonas and Chopra finally brought their daughter home. Now four years old, Malti is thriving, and her parents couldn’t be more grateful.
Jonas believes that the way Malti entered the world has shaped her, stating, "I feel like she knows how she entered the world and what that first chapter of her life was like. And so every day is a gift and you can actually feel it in her in the way that she behaves and how exciting everything is."
In the podcast, Jonas also expressed his joy and amazement at Malti's vibrant personality. "Our daughter’s incredible, she’s just, she’s magic in every sense of the world," he gushed. With Malti recently celebrating her fourth birthday, Jonas is in awe of her potential and the magical moments they share as a family.
The journey from those first intense moments to the joy they experience today is a testament to the strength and love that binds this family together.
