Choosing a baby name is no small feat, but Khloé Kardashian took it to another level. The reality TV star confessed that it took her nearly nine months after her son's birth to finally decide on the name Tatum. Talk about taking your time!
During an "Ask Me Anything" episode of her podcast, Khloé in Wonderland, the former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star spilled the beans on the unexpected delay and the creative brainstorming that accompanied it.
Khloé welcomed her second child with ex Tristan Thompson via surrogate in 2022. While many parents have a name ready to go before the baby even arrives, Khloé admitted she was at a loss. "[For] Tatum, I don't think I landed on a name for like, nine months after he was born, which was crazy," she explained.
"But I think the wildest name I liked for him was Tiger." Khloé Kardashian
For months, Khloé's little one was simply known as "Baby" or occasionally "Rob." Despite the lengthy deliberation, Khloé had a clear vision. She wanted a name starting with 'T' to match her daughter's name and keep a family theme. "I wanted a T name, something still unique but not too unique, not crazy," she shared.
Even though she briefly flirted with the idea of naming him "Tiger," the name Tatum eventually ticked all the boxes. It felt modern, distinctive, and fit perfectly with the family's T-name tradition.
Naming her first child, True, seemed to be a breeze in comparison. Khloé shares daughter True with Tristan, born in 2018, and she instantly knew what the baby would be called. "And then for True, there were no real options," Khloé said. "I just knew it was True. I loved the name True."
Interestingly, True's name carries a deeper meaning. It honors Khloé's late grandfather, Robert True, and his father before him. A conversation with her grandmother sparked the idea. "And she was like, 'Why not True?' That's your grandfather's name.' Anyways, that's where that name came from."
Khloé has quietly established a pattern with her children's names. Both True and Tatum start with the letter T, a detail she intentionally wanted from the start. She even hoped both children would share the same initials. "I wanted their initials to be TT."
This theme mirrors the long-standing Kardashian tradition of choosing distinctive names that stand out while remaining personal. Khloé's story not only highlights her personal connection to family history but also her unique approach to keeping up with the Kardashian name game.
