Twenty-five years after her first Oscar nomination, Kate Hudson wowed at the 98th annual Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon, bringing back her iconic hairstyle from decades past. The star-studded event at The Beverly Hilton on Tuesday saw Hudson rocking a side part, a stylish nod to the hairdo she sported at the 2001 Oscars Nominees Luncheon, when she was nominated for Best Actress for her role in “Almost Famous.” Fast forward to today, she's up for Best Actress again, this time for her portrayal of Claire Sardina in “Song Sung Blue.”
Hudson added a modern twist to her 2001 look with soft, smooth waves. Her front pieces were brushed back and clipped, while the rest was tucked behind her ear. Celebrity stylist Marcus Francis helped craft this updated style, having recently worked with Hudson for the Directors Guild Awards. Hudson also teamed up with Peter Gray for a dazzling appearance at the Golden Globes in January.
“It’s amazing to see how Kate has evolved her style while still staying true to her roots,” a fashion insider commented.
Tuesday's luncheon showcased a different side of Hudson, makeup-wise. Gone were the smoky shadows and pale complexion of 25 years ago. Instead, with the help of makeup artist Tonya Brewer, Hudson sported a glowing complexion, bronzed eyes, and rose-taupe lips. Her cheekbones were highlighted in gold, and her eyebrows were thicker, offering a modern twist on her classic beauty.
Among the glam attendees were fellow Best Actress nominees Rose Byrne, Emma Stone, and Jessie Buckley, each flaunting their own unique bob styles. Meanwhile, Teyana Taylor, nominated for Best Supporting Actress, stayed true to her signature pin curl pixie cut.
The 98th annual Oscars are set for March 15 at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and it's clear that Hudson is not only reviving past styles but also setting new trends along the way.
