Kate Garraway, one of the standout stars of the BBC's thrilling 'Celebrity Traitors,' recently revealed how her participation in the show sparked a profound family discussion. Competing for a whopping £100,000 for charity, the 58-year-old TV personality found herself at the center of suspicion despite not being chosen as a traitor by host Claudia Winkleman. Fellow contestant Clare Balding even accused her of "overreacting," adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding drama.
"The weird thing for me watching it, of course, is that, like everybody at home, we don’t know any of this that’s happening. We don’t know the people who have been talking about us behind our backs," Garraway shared on Good Morning Britain.
Garraway's experience on the show wasn't just a game – it became a teaching moment for her children, Darcey and Billy. "It prompted a massive conversation with my kids last night about, ‘Oh my gosh, people talk about you behind your back. Are you upset? What’s going to happen?’" she explained. It was a chance for Garraway to impart a life lesson: "You can't control what people think about you, so you’ve just got to be yourself."
But the drama didn't end there. Olympic gold medallist Tom Daley was also suspicious, giving Garraway a viral side-eye during one of the episodes. "But who wouldn’t want Tom Daley to give a bit of side-eye to them?" Garraway quipped, adding a touch of humor to the intense situation.
The show took a shocking turn when singer Paloma Faith became the first victim of the traitors – Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr, and Cat Burns. "The bright side of this is that there wasn’t enough time for anybody to think that I’m a horrible person," Faith said, reflecting on her swift exit.
Adding to the intrigue, Faith criticized her friend Alan Carr for "murdering" her in the game. "I still maintain to this day that if the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn’t have done that," she asserted, surprised by Carr's betrayal.
The celebrity-packed series, featuring names like comedian Joe Wilkinson, Welsh singer Charlotte Church, actor Sir Stephen Fry, 'The Thursday Murder Club' actor Celia Imrie, and 'Ted Lasso' star Nick Mohammed, has captivated over 6 million viewers since its launch on October 8.
Garraway, who tragically lost her husband Derek Draper in 2024 due to complications from coronavirus, continues to share her life experiences both on and off the screen, turning games into life lessons for her family.
