Karlie Kloss: A Supermodel with Strong Values

Despite the glitz and glamour of her high-profile career, Karlie Kloss has always kept her values front and center. In a candid interview with Bloomberg Originals, shared on Instagram on July 1, Kloss delves into her political stance and how she navigates her ties to the Trump family.

Family Ties and Political Beliefs

Kloss tied the knot with Joshua Kushner in 2018, making her the sister-in-law of Jared Kushner, former White House adviser and husband to Ivanka Trump, daughter of former President Donald Trump. When asked about managing "everything that comes with that," Kloss emphasized the importance of staying true to herself. "I know the values that guide my life and the issues that I care about," she stated. "So, I haven't lost sight of who I am, but also, it's my husband's family."

“I think it's possible to have relationships with people who you politically don't align with," she said. "And I think this country has always been a place for dialogue. We have to be able to talk to each other.”

Interestingly, Kloss has never met Donald Trump, despite her connections. Instead, she has been vocal about her support for Democratic candidates and progressive causes, even attending the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in June.

Embracing Political Diversity

Reflecting on her St. Louis upbringing, Kloss shared, "We're sitting here in St. Louis, which is a blue dot in a red state. Since as long as I can remember, I've always been exposed to a lot of different political points of view, and I think that trained me for my life. You know, I'm a Democrat." Her husband, Joshua, also identifies as a Democrat, underscoring their shared political beliefs despite their complex family ties.

Building a Media Legacy

Beyond her modeling career, Kloss is making waves in the media world with Bedford Media, which owns i-D and W magazines. Recently, the company relaunched Life magazine, embracing a "lean and scrappy startup" approach. "I don't think that we're going to have Facebook outcomes on this investment necessarily, but that's not my intention here," Kloss explained. "My intention is to build a really viable business, but to make really meaningful work along the way."

With her eyes set on preserving independent media and fostering meaningful dialogue, Kloss is proving that she's much more than just a supermodel – she's a powerhouse of thoughtful change.
