Julia Roberts Opens Up About Parenting Styles

Julia Roberts, the beloved Oscar-winning actress, has given fans a rare peek into her life as a mom. She usually keeps her parenting journey under wraps, but recently, she revealed some candid insights. At 57, Julia is a proud mom to twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 20, and son Henry, 18, whom she shares with her husband, Danny Moder. The couple first met on a film set back in 2000, and their love story has been going strong ever since.

In a heart-to-heart with 72 Magazine, Julia disclosed that she and Danny were firm but loving parents. "When they were younger, certainly, Danny and I would have been considered some of the stricter parents," she confessed. "Not like we're laying down the law, but these are the rules, and they don't change. Here's the boundary of your life, and it does not shift."

"I think that is what creates the stability that then allows them to feel secure because you know there is this fixed world of love and safety that exists unconditionally," Julia shared, emphasizing the importance of consistency.

Protecting Kids from the Spotlight

Julia further shared that she and Danny were vigilant about their kids' exposure to the digital world. "I think they were, for sure, some of the last kids in their peer groups to get phones and stuff like that," she noted. It was essential for her to shield them from Hollywood's glitz, ensuring they grew up grounded and with strong values.

In a candid chat with her longtime friend George Clooney, Julia expressed her desire for her children to have a normal upbringing. "You know, we all want our kids to grow up with values," she explained. "This is what we want as parents."

Balancing Fame and Family

Despite her global fame, Julia's children were blissfully unaware of her superstar status for much of their childhood. "I think when kids are little, kids only know what you let them know," she said. "I can't even tell you how old my kids probably were when they really understood my place in a work world."

Julia also offered some parenting wisdom to George Clooney, who is navigating parenthood with eight-year-old twins: "They don't wake up as monsters one day. They don't turn 13 and hate you. You just have to hang in there and things shift, and then the boat rights itself again."

Sharing Glimpses of Family Life

Over the years, Julia has been protective of her children's privacy, opting to share only throwback photos on social media. "[Kids should] be celebrated," she said, "and I know Instagram is a place where people like to share happy things, and I love them so much."

With Hazel and Phinnaeus now in college and Henry still at home, Julia continues to cherish her role as a mom while maintaining the balance between family and fame.
