Joshua Jackson, the actor we all remember from 'Dawson's Creek' and 'The Mighty Ducks,' is not looking back wistfully at his youth. In fact, at 47, he’s loving every moment of his mature years. Chatting over Zoom, Jackson reveals, “I like where I’m at now.” He even leans in to show off the gray starting to pepper his beard. For Jackson, the intense whirlwind of his 20s is nothing he misses. “You could not drag me back to 25,” he laughs, reflecting on his younger self.
“I remember 25 as just – everything being difficult. Everything was hard. Every molehill was a mountain. Everything was too intense. I was too serious,” he says with a laugh. “And I’m really happy where I’m at.”
Jackson's current focus isn't just on embracing his age but also on health advocacy. Partnering with AstraZeneca, he's encouraging cancer screenings through the Get Body Checked initiative. This cause hits home, as it follows the loss of his friend and co-star James Van Der Beek to colorectal cancer. “This isn’t something I need to think about in the future. This is something I need to be proactive about now,” Jackson emphasizes.
Fatherhood has also shifted Jackson's priorities. Raising his daughter, Juno Rose, has made him acutely aware of his health and the importance of being present. “When my daughter came, you just become really aware of the importance of your living,” he shares.
Recently, Jackson was spotted reuniting with Katie Holmes on the set of 'Happy Hours,' a film about former sweethearts reconnecting. The reunion was more than just professional; it was a chance to see Holmes in a new light. “Katie’s just a super-impressive woman,” Jackson admires.
Despite his Hollywood history, Jackson’s toughest critic remains his daughter, who’s not impressed by his roles in classics like 'The Mighty Ducks.' “Absolutely not, Dad,” is her verdict on watching his films. Yet, Jackson takes it in stride, appreciating her indifference as a grounding force in his life.
From health advocacy to family life and nostalgic reunions, Joshua Jackson is living proof that aging gracefully is not just possible – it’s downright enjoyable.
