Joe Marler's Unexpected Exit

Joe Marler recently opened up about his surprise banishment during the finale of The Celebrity Traitors. In a twist no one saw coming, Marler was ousted by his close ally Nick Mohammed, who believed Marler's 'creepiness' indicated he was a 'Traitor.' Almost a month later, the finale is still a hot topic of discussion, and now we have Marler's take on the dramatic turn of events.

Friendship Turned Sour

Throughout the series, Joe Marler and Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed were thick as thieves, plotting to expose the real "Traitors." But just when it seemed like they were on the verge of success, Nick decided to vote out his rugby star friend. Joe later reflected on the situation, revealing to Metro: "A couple of weeks [after filming], I got to properly debrief with Nick, and I was like, ‘What changed, mate? I thought we were going for it?’" Turns out, Joe's intense insistence on being '100% Faithful' made Nick uneasy, leading him to suspect his friend was actually a 'Traitor.'

“I was a bit too much for him. And it made him feel like, ‘He could be a Traitor here. He’s weirded me out’.”

No Hard Feelings

Despite the unexpected betrayal, Joe holds no grudges. "I love Nick to bits; it’s all part of the game, and we’re still really good friends now; it was great fun," he shared. After Joe's departure, the only remaining real "Traitor," Alan Carr, managed to deceive Nick and fellow contestant David Olusoga, ultimately winning the series and a cash prize for Neuroblastoma UK.

Nick Mohammed, reflecting on his bond with Marler, said: "He’s so nice! I was aware of him playing rugby and everything but I’d never met him before [Celebrity Traitors], and instantly we kind of had this connection." It seems that despite the game's twists and turns, the friendships formed were genuine and long-lasting.
