From Thrift Stores to Style Icon

Jessica Simpson has always had a flair for fashion, even from her early days. As a young girl, she would team up with her mom to plan out her outfits. With her dad being a preacher, the family didn't have endless options for clothing, but that didn't stop them. "We'd go to thrift stores and army surplus stores and mix and match things," Jessica recalls.

Her unique style caught the public's eye during her reality TV days on 'Newlyweds' with Nick Lachey. Fans began to emulate her looks, showing up at her mall tours in outfits she wore on the show. This popularity translated into a successful fashion venture when she launched The Jessica Simpson Collection, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. "Dreams really can come true," she says, reflecting on her journey.

“People were coming to my mall tours dressed in things I’d wear on 'Newlyweds'," she says. "When we were approached to do shoes after 'The Dukes of Hazzard', that felt like me.”

Embracing Her Own Style

Now at 45, Jessica's style has evolved to reflect her personal taste. She admits, "I definitely dress for myself," a shift from her earlier years when she dressed to impress others. Today, she finds confidence in simple outfits like a white tank top and shorts or leather pants. One of her favorite looks is a men's suit coat, which she finds sexy and intriguing.

Her maximalist approach to fashion is something she shares with her mom, Tina Simpson. "When it comes to jewelry, she’ll have every bracelet in her closet on," Jessica laughs. "We never feel like we’re overdoing anything. It’s probably the southern Texan in us. It’s rare when I tone it down."

New Beginnings and Ongoing Success

Following her split from Eric Johnson, Jessica is entering a new chapter in her life. She's diving back into music and preparing for tours, while continuing to expand her fashion brand. Her latest project, a capsule collection called Jessica Simpson 2.0, marks a milestone in her career. "The collection is a celebration of my life and every single thing that happened to me,” she shares.

Her iconic Daisy Dukes remain a staple in her wardrobe. "I’m wearing them today on this shoot," she reveals during a campaign photo shoot. She's also teamed up with Walmart to create a line inspired by her 'These Boots Are Made for Walking' video, featuring graphic tees and various cut-off shorts.

Overall, Jessica feels more confident than ever. "I wear life with more confidence. I feel better now than I ever did in my twenties," she beams. "I think going through life and having all the opinions thrown at you, I’m at the place where only my opinion matters. And of course my kids. I don’t want to embarrass my children!"
