Democrat Zohran Mamdani's recent triumph in the New York City mayoral race has set off a whirlwind of reactions from the celebrity world. On Tuesday, Mamdani clinched victory over his opponents, independent Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa, marking a new chapter for NYC politics. Known for his staunch support of Palestinian rights and his critical stance on various U.S. foreign policies, the 34-year-old's win hasn't gone unnoticed by Hollywood's elite.
"Sex and the City" alum, who once vied for New York governor in 2018, couldn't hide her excitement over Mamdani's win. She took to social media to share her joy, posting heartfelt photos of herself with Mamdani. Her caption radiated admiration: “I love this young man so so much! He is a miracle of nature and I would follow him to the ends of the earth (and I almost have!).”
“I woke up this morning with a hopeful, fresh new outlook on the world, but we’ve only just begun. Buckle up, we’re going for a ride you’re not going to want to miss!” she enthused in her post.
Model Emily Ratajkowski also threw her support behind Mamdani, donning a "Hot Girls for Zohran" shirt while encouraging voters to make their voices heard. "Today is election day in New York, and we have the opportunity to send a message to billionaires and Super PACs that the power belongs to the PEOPLE," she declared.
However, not all celebrities are on Team Mamdani. Actor Michael Rapaport has been vocal about his disdain for the mayor-elect, accusing him of living a double life. Rapaport slammed Mamdani for dining at expensive eateries despite claiming to represent the working class.
Similarly, "Will & Grace" star Debra Messing faced backlash after sharing a controversial post labeling Mamdani as a "communist jihadist." Despite the criticism, she remained firm in her support for Andrew Cuomo, citing his experience as crucial for NYC's future.
Meanwhile, comedian Amy Schumer hinted at her preference for Cuomo, cryptically posting about her vote in a way that left little doubt about where her allegiance lay.
