Glen Powell's Big Night on 'SNL'

Glen Powell finally got his moment in the spotlight on "Saturday Night Live," and he didn't come alone! The "Running Man" star shared a heartwarming and humorous moment during his opening monologue, bringing along a very special guest – his UPS driver, Mitch.

A Dream Deferred

Powell took the audience on a journey back to a time when he was originally set to host "SNL" four years ago. It was a celebration tied to the anticipated release of "Top Gun: Maverick." As fate would have it, a UPS driver was delivering a package right at the moment of this career milestone.

“So we all took a selfie with him, and this is the selfie to mark the occasion,” Powell reminisced, sharing the cherished photo with the crowd. But then, as he put it, "my dream got taken away." The movie's delay due to COVID meant the hosting gig was off the table, leaving Powell in a limbo of sorts.

Making Things Right

For four long years, Mitch the UPS driver might have thought Powell was spinning a tall tale. But Powell was determined to set the record straight. "My sisters tracked him down. The women in my family are terrifying," he joked, revealing how they managed to find Mitch's contact information.

In a bid to prove his honesty, Powell flew Mitch all the way to New York for the show. "He thought it was a scam, but he still came," Powell laughed, pointing out Mitch in the audience. The moment culminated with Mitch joining Powell onstage for another selfie, bringing their story full circle.

“I had to wait my entire life, plus four years to be here,” Powell said. “But if I have learned anything, it is that the best things in life don’t happen overnight, and no one knows that better than UPS.”

With one simple gesture, Powell turned a career setback into a memorable moment of connection and laughter, proving that sometimes the best stories are the ones that take a little time to unfold.
