In a dramatic twist fit for reality TV, "Vanderpump Villa" star Marciano Brunette is taking legal action against Demi Engemann, known for her role in "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives." On December 5, Brunette filed a defamation lawsuit in Utah federal court, accusing Engemann of making false sexual assault claims and labeling him a "sexual predator." Brunette alleges that these accusations, along with the involvement of the show's producer, Jeff Jenkins Production Company, were not only baseless but were also spread to tarnish his reputation.
According to Brunette's legal team, the supposed assault revolved around a consensual kiss between him and Engemann while filming in Italy for "Vanderpump Villa" in August 2024. Despite the kiss, Brunette claims the two remained in touch, exchanging hundreds of messages until March 2025, none of which hinted at any non-consensual encounter. "We shared a moment, and it was mutual," Brunette's side argues, painting a vastly different picture from Engemann's allegations.
"I love you," Engemann reportedly told Brunette during the encounter, to which he replied, "I love you too."
The lawsuit further claims that Engemann's public statements, including her remarks on social media and on "The Viall Files" podcast, have severely impacted Brunette's career. He asserts these comments were designed to "amplify" the accusations for profit, leading to his dismissal from "Vanderpump Villa" and costing him a lucrative opportunity on a reality dating show.
Brunette's legal team accuses the Jeff Jenkins production company of exploiting Engemann's allegations as a major storyline in "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," which launched its third season in November. They argue that the company aired these claims to maximize drama and viewer engagement, all while denying Brunette a chance to defend himself.
Lisa Vanderpump, the executive producer of "Vanderpump Villa," backed Brunette's version of events, stating in an interview that footage exists which contradicts Engemann's claims. "We have cameras everywhere," Vanderpump explained, adding that the "Mormon Wives" cast has valid reasons to question Engemann's narrative.
Meanwhile, Engemann insists there is hallway footage supporting her allegations, although she claims it is inaccessible. The conflict between these accounts has left fans and viewers eager to see how the legal drama will unfold.
