Jessica Simpson's father, Joe Simpson, isn't ruling out a possible reunion between his daughter and her former husband, Eric Johnson. Speaking to TMZ at the Giving A Smile Foundation Gala in Beverly Hills, Joe shared a few cryptic words that have fans buzzing. "I can't say," he remarked when asked about the potential for reconciliation, adding, "You wouldn't know what the future holds."
Jessica, 45, and Eric officially announced their split in January 2024, but their commitment to co-parenting remains strong. The couple shares three children: Maxi, 13; Ace, 12; and Birdie, six. Despite the separation, they have been "working through this as a family," as Jessica put it, indicating a united front for their kids.
Jessica opened up about the emotional toll of their split earlier this year, describing it as "a painful situation." She also revealed on Instagram that she endured things she "did not deserve," offering a rare glimpse into her personal struggles.
"Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation," Simpson told People. "Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."
Even before their split, Jessica emphasized the importance of small acts of affection in their marriage. In a 2023 interview with Access, she shared, "It's good to keep the romance there, even with three kids on top of our head. It's hard, but he'll leave me little notes, because he'll wake up earlier than me. He'll leave me little letters." These gestures, she explained, were crucial in maintaining their connection.
Jessica and Eric's relationship, which began in 2010, led to a whirlwind romance that saw them tying the knot in 2014. Their marriage, like their careers, has been a subject of public fascination, with both continuing to shine in their respective fields.
