Claire Danes is spilling the beans on a surprise addition to her family – a pregnancy she never saw coming at the age of 44. During a chat on the SmartLess podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, the Homeland star shared how this unexpected "oopsie daisy" moment led to her and her husband Hugh Dancy moving into a brownstone to accommodate their growing family.

"I was so old when that happened. I was 44," Danes confessed, adding she never thought it was possible to conceive at that age. Danes and Dancy, who are also parents to sons born in 2012 and 2018, welcomed their third child in 2023. Reflecting on the experience, she revealed, "I did not foresee this at all. And it was weird. Suddenly, I felt like a funny shame. Like I was naughty. Like I had been caught fornicating past the point I was meant to."

"It was like I found an edge that I hadn’t been quite conscious of – like I was going outside of the parameters a little bit. That was wild," Danes mused.

Welcoming a Daughter

The podcast hosts were curious about whether the new addition was a girl, to which Danes happily confirmed. This led Bateman to jokingly suggest she might have been "pissed off" with another boy. Danes laughed it off, saying, "I got really, really lucky. My OB-GYN was like, 'You know you're having another boy.' But no!" She added that while she would have been delighted with another son, having a daughter brought immense joy.

"Yeah, she's pretty cool," Danes said of her daughter, mentioning her fondness for tutus, which prompted the hosts to agree, "Who doesn't? Who doesn't?"

A Long-Standing Love Story

Danes and Dancy's love story began on the set of the film Evening back in 2006. They made their engagement public in February 2009 and tied the knot later that year in a private ceremony in France. Fast forward to today, and Danes is not just a mom of three but also a leading star in Netflix's thriller The Beast in Me, streaming now.
