Charlotte Mellington has just burst onto the acting scene with her role in Emerald Fennell’s 'Wuthering Heights', a fresh take on Emily Brontë’s classic gothic novel. At just 14, this breakout star is already turning heads as she plays the younger version of Margot Robbie’s Catherine Earnshaw in a film that’s generating plenty of buzz this year.
British actor Charlotte Mellington made quite the impression at the UK premiere of 'Wuthering Heights', held at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London on February 5. Dressed to impress, she posed for photos and mingled with the film's cast and crew, leaving no doubt that she's one to watch.
Before making her feature film debut, Mellington had just one other acting credit to her name. She appeared in the West End stage musical 'Matilda', which set the stage for her big break alongside Owen Cooper, who plays young Heathcliff. Her role in 'Wuthering Heights' marks a significant leap from stage to screen.
“I was encouraged by my acting coach to audition for 'Wuthering Heights', and it was a dream come true to land the role of young Catherine,” Mellington shared in an interview.
Her journey to landing the role wasn't without its challenges. Thanks to the guidance of Rob Kelly’s screen acting classes, where she honed her craft alongside budding stars like Florence Hunt and Arabella Stanton, Mellington was able to secure her spot in the film. She credits her acting coach for pushing her to audition and believes that self-tapes and headshots were key to her success.
Despite her newfound fame, Charlotte Mellington remains grounded. In her interview with Teen Vogue, she revealed that her immediate plans revolve around passing her upcoming exams. Yet, there's no doubt that this talented young actress has a bright future ahead, with many more roles likely on the horizon.
