Celia Imrie, the celebrated star of Celebrity Traitors, has nothing but praise for the inventive TV game she was part of alongside winner Alan Carr. With the dramatic finale still fresh in her mind, Imrie expressed her admiration for the show's creator, calling it "genius" and "totally absorbing." Reflecting on her time in the Scottish Highlands, she reminisced about the suspenseful unfolding of events, admitting that the competitors were kept in the dark until mere days before the nation tuned in.
"He said, 'Oh mum, you'll be so embarrassing...and of course I was, rather," Celia shared, recalling her son Angus's initial skepticism about her involvement in the show.
The experience, despite her son's doubts, was one she relished. And yes, who could forget the infamous episode three incident?
But Imrie's adventures don't end there. The actress is gearing up for a special Christmas event in Uckfield on November 29. Set to take place at the Holy Cross Church, this festive gathering is organized for the Friends of Sussex Hospices, where her sister Rosa volunteers. Imrie's heartwarming plans include a reading from Charles Dickens' classic, A Christmas Carol, and a spirited Christmas cake-making session.
"I have two sisters who are nurses, Juliet and Rosalind, and I really do think they're angels," she said, highlighting her family's dedication to helping others. "I know Rosa loves the work that she does, but it's tough."
Aside from her festive plans, Imrie recently caught up with her Celebrity Traitors family at a West End performance of The Importance of Being Earnest, featuring fellow contestant Sir Stephen Fry. She also took a stroll down memory lane, recalling the excitement of working on The Thursday Murder Club, a Netflix film inspired by Richard Osman's novel.
Imrie's awe was palpable when she narrated her encounter with producer Stephen Spielberg, who made a grand entrance via helicopter. "I say these things as if it's an everyday occurrence for me...it isn't, I get terribly excited about things like that and I'm forever star-struck," she confessed with a chuckle.
