Blake Lively might be facing a "Game Over" moment in Hollywood. Following a brutal legal setback in her ongoing feud with It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni, experts are warning that the actress could become "persona non grata." A judge recently delivered a "legal slapdown" by tossing 10 of Lively's 13 claims, including heavy-hitters like sexual harassment, defamation, and conspiracy.
According to brand specialist Kayley Cornelius, "It does look like a challenging path lies ahead for Blake Lively." In an industry that moves like a "revolving door," there is a real risk she could be "pushed out of the industry" as studios favor newer, less controversial talent. Cornelius noted that in the age of cancel culture and increased public scrutiny, "even legacy names such as Blake are no longer untouchable" or guaranteed the security they once enjoyed.
The drama traces back to the 2024 release of their film, where rumors of an on-set rift were fueled by what many called Lively's "tone-deaf" promotion of a movie centered on domestic violence. By the end of that year, Lively sued Baldoni for harassment, prompting him to fire back with a massive $400 million countersuit against her and husband Ryan Reynolds – though that was tossed by a judge last June.
With the sexual harassment claims now dismissed, Baldoni has landed a "clear reputational boost." Attorney Gregory Doll suggests that because Baldoni is no longer facing personal liability, the odds of a settlement have "gone up significantly." However, staying in the fight is a double-edged sword; Cornelius warns that "prolonged legal battles keep the story in the headlines," which could further damage Blake's image unless she secures a "major legal breakthrough."
Despite the pressure to settle, Lively seems determined to see this through to the May 18 trial. Her legal team insists she is looking forward to "shining a light on this vicious form of online retaliation" and exposing the "extraordinary steps" the defendants took to destroy her reputation after she "stood up for safety on the set."
Whether Blake can reclaim her A-list status or if she's been permanently sidelined remains to be seen. As Cornelius put it, "it will be the success or failure of her next major project that determines what the future of her career looks like." For now, the court of public opinion is still out.
