Hold on to your hats, folks – the Cyrus family drama just took a wild turn! A 45-year-old woman from Arizona, named Jayme Lee, has boldly claimed she is the biological mother of none other than pop sensation Miley Cyrus. According to Lee, she was just 12 years old when she supposedly gave birth to Miley, and entered into a "private adoption agreement" with Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus.
In a lawsuit filed in Tennessee back in May, Lee alleged that she lacked the capacity to consent to the adoption due to her being a minor. The complaint, as reported by the Daily Mail, accused Billy Ray of "wrongfully assuming the role" of Miley's father and misrepresenting the adoption circumstances, causing Lee "severe emotional distress."
“The claims are false and absurd,” Billy Ray Cyrus shot back in his own legal filing, dismissing the allegations as nothing more than harassment.
Billy Ray Cyrus didn't hold back, filing his own suit on November 20th to counter these wild claims. He slammed the allegations as "clearly brought for the purposes of harassing" him and his family, and criticized them for "needlessly wasting this Court’s time and resources." His attorney, Chase LanCarte, emphasized that adopting a child without a court order in Tennessee is simply "not legally permissible."
Lee didn't stop there. She went on to accuse Billy Ray and Tish of "child abuse and endangerment" for thrusting Miley into the limelight. However, Billy Ray maintained he was never served the lawsuit and only learned of it recently.
In the end, the Davidson County circuit court dismissed Lee's lawsuit on December 5th, awarding Billy Ray the recovery of his legal fees. "The Court dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice this morning and awarded Mr Cyrus the recovery of his reasonable and necessary attorney’s fees and costs," LanCarte confirmed to the Daily Mail.
Despite the drama, the Cyrus family seems to be standing strong. Meanwhile, The Tab reached out to Tish Cyrus-Purcell and Miley Cyrus for their comments, but the saga appears to be wrapping up – at least for now.
