Ashton Kutcher has broken his silence with some unexpected praise for his ex-wife, Demi Moore, a whopping 15 years after their split. While promoting his latest FX series, "The Beauty," Kutcher was asked about the show being compared to Moore's critically acclaimed 2024 film, "The Substance." Kutcher didn't hold back, expressing his admiration for Moore's performance.
“I mean, one, Demi’s performance in ‘The Substance,’ obviously she got extraordinary accolades, I’m so proud of her, she killed it,” Kutcher told Entertainment Tonight.
Kutcher's admiration comes as Moore's role in "The Substance" garnered her a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award, and a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award. Their lives have taken different paths since their split, but it's clear that Kutcher still holds a deep respect for Moore's talent.
In "The Beauty," Kutcher plays the creator of a drug that makes people stunningly beautiful but with deadly consequences. This premise has drawn comparisons to "The Substance," where Moore portrays an aging celebrity using a black market drug to become a younger version of herself, only to face unexpected side effects.
Kutcher reflected on the societal context, noting the rise of cosmetic enhancements over the past two decades. "It’s a weird thing, like over the past two decades, you just kind of watch the rise of that taking place," he mused.
Kutcher and Moore's relationship was a hot topic in the early 2000s, partly due to their 15-year age gap. They began dating in 2003, married in 2005, and eventually divorced in 2013. Despite their split, Kutcher's recent comments show a lingering respect for Moore's artistic achievements.
However, their post-divorce relationship hasn't always been smooth. Kutcher admitted he was "f—king pissed" over Moore's 2019 memoir, "Inside Out," where she discussed their past, including regrets over threesomes and her struggle with sobriety.
Moore's daughter Tallulah also shared her perspective on her mother's relationship with Kutcher, revealing her own struggles during that time. "It was that moment, a lot going on, and I really went inside of myself," she said, reflecting on the challenges she faced.
Despite their rocky past, Kutcher's recent comments highlight a sense of pride and admiration for Moore's accomplishments, proving that even exes can appreciate each other's talents.
