Amy Schumer's Candid Revelation

Amy Schumer is laying it all on the table about her recent health and wellness journey, which includes shedding an impressive 50 pounds. During a lively appearance at the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast event on May 17, hosted by Amanda Hirsch, the comedian didn't hold back. She revealed that her journey to happiness came with an unexpected twist – a "botched colonoscopy."

Opening Up About the Procedure

At the event, Schumer, who is embracing life as a single woman, expressed, "I feel happier than I’ve ever been." When Hirsch commented on her noticeable weight loss and cheekily asked if it contributed to her happiness, Schumer quipped, “I actually had kind of a botched colonoscopy, so I’m not feeling very sexual." Although she didn't dive into the specifics of what went wrong during the procedure, her humor kept the audience engaged.

“That’s another thing you’re not going to have to worry about for 15 years,” Schumer teased, lightening the mood.

The Battle with Cushing Syndrome

Schumer has been vocal about the medical challenges behind her transformation, especially after online chatter about her appearance intensified in early 2024. In an insightful conversation with Jessica Yellin for the "News Not Noise" newsletter, Schumer shared how public scrutiny led her to discover her health issues. "Aside from fears about my health, I also had to be on camera having the internet chime in," she mentioned. "But thank God for that. Because that's how I realized something was wrong. ... The internet is undefeated, as they say."

Diagnosed with Cushing syndrome, a condition characterized by elevated cortisol levels, Schumer faced symptoms like weight gain, fatigue, and swelling. This revelation helped shut down assumptions about her weight loss being purely cosmetic.

Regaining Health and Moving On

In December, she took to Instagram to clarify, "I didn’t lose 30 lbs, I lost 50," emphasizing that her motivation was survival, not vanity. She candidly discussed the serious nature of Cushing syndrome, "It makes your face extremely puffy and can kill you," and how her appearance naturally shifted after treatment.

Schumer has also been transparent about her use of Mounjaro and plastic surgery in her health journey. "Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost weight," she admitted. "I’ve had plastic surgery over the years, and I use Mounjaro."

In her November update, Schumer celebrated being pain-free, attributing improvements to her endometriosis and chronic back pain management. "I no longer have Cushing syndrome, so my face went back to normal. I am grateful to be strong and healthy, especially for my son," she shared.

Life After Marriage

Navigating life post-disease as a single woman, Schumer announced her breakup with Chris Fischer on December 12, describing the split as "amicable." She reassured fans, "Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son." The couple's request for privacy underscores their commitment to family amidst personal changes.
