When it comes to iconic movie musicals, "Mamma Mia" is a name that instantly comes to mind. Back in 2008, Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep dazzled audiences with their performances, making the film a cultural sensation. Fast forward a decade, and the sequel continued the magic. Now, fans are buzzing with anticipation about a possible third installment.
Currently promoting her latest project, "The Assistant," Amanda Seyfried was asked about reprising her role in another "Mamma Mia" film. Her response was nothing short of cheeky: "It's a role for life, for sure. I'm so glad they chose me, because it's one of those opportunities you can't pass up." Seyfried didn't stop there, adding, "It would be so ridiculous if it didn't happen. I mean, they keep making 'Fast & Furious'."
"Meryl Streep is available, let's do it."
The financial success of the "Mamma Mia" films is undeniable. The original made over $600 million on a modest $50 million budget, while the sequel, "Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again," grossed over $400 million. These figures certainly fuel optimism for another sequel.
Meryl Streep, a cornerstone of the series, has also expressed her enthusiasm: "I don't know how they're going to do it. They have an idea. I haven't heard it yet, but it's on my agenda and I'm going to find out soon. Of course I want to do it. I think people love it," she shared with Deadline.
With both Seyfried and Streep on board, fans can only hope that the "Mamma Mia" magic will dance its way back to the big screen.
