Amanda Holden and Alan Carr have tickled fans with their antics on the property renovation show, Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job. But when it comes to reality competition, Amanda is stepping aside. In a candid chat with Radio Times, she revealed why she's not following Alan's footsteps into the Celebrity Traitors arena.
The Traitors is a gripping BBC game show where contestants must identify traitors among them. Last season, the UK saw its first celebrity edition, and Alan Carr emerged victorious, bagging £87,500 for charity. Yet, Amanda won't be joining the excitement anytime soon. Her commitment to Britain's Got Talent (BGT) takes precedence, even though Alan cheekily suggested she'd be "great" on the show.
“A traitor would say that. Wouldn’t they?” Alan teased Amanda about her reluctance.
Amanda admitted she’d be tempted to play a traitor, joking about her potential look: “I do love the cloak, I think I’d look like the woman from the Scottish Widows advert if I could customize it with a red lip." But alas, she feels she'd likely be made a faithful, which she finds "boring." She quipped, "You don’t remember the faithfuls."
Ultimately, her BGT obligations seal the deal against her participation. "You ask anyone in a few months, who else was in the show other than Alan Carr? But I couldn’t do it anyway because it clashes with Britain’s Got Talent," she clarified.
The buzz around the second Celebrity Traitors series continues, yet Amanda remains firm in her decision. Her playful banter with Alan highlights the camaraderie between the two, even as they pursue different paths in their careers. For those curious, the full interview with Amanda can be savored in the latest Radio Times issue.
