Amal Clooney, the accomplished human rights attorney, recently opened up about how her life was "easier" before tying the knot with Hollywood's favorite heartthrob, George Clooney. During a Cartier Dialogues event in Bangkok, Amal shared some personal insights, revealing that before her high-profile marriage, she had more control over her exposure to the public eye.
“It was easier when I could decide what kind of exposure I got,” she said, shedding light on the complexities brought on by her marriage to George.
Reflecting on her past, Amal, 48, noted that she once enjoyed the ability to keep her work and personal life distinct, a luxury that has changed following her marriage.
Amal described her experience of integrating her personal and professional personas as a "weird phenomenon," stating that she once managed to maintain separate identities. "I used to have my work life and my personal life, and they could look quite different," she shared. However, after marrying George in 2014, the lines have blurred significantly.
She candidly acknowledged the initial challenge of adjusting to the public's gaze, where even her choice of attire could be scrutinized. Despite this, Amal emphasized the importance of staying true to oneself. "Ultimately if you’re good at what you do, that is going to shine through or not,” she added.
Despite the challenges, Amal is quick to highlight the unwavering support from George. The couple, who celebrated their star-studded wedding in Italy, have since welcomed twins, Ella and Alexander. George has often praised their harmonious relationship, noting they've never had a fight, a testament to their strong bond.
Amal, too, appreciates the supportive dynamic, stating, “I have a partner in life who is so supportive of what I do.” This mutual respect and encouragement have allowed her to thrive without feeling the need to hold back.
With George's backing and her own resolve, Amal continues to balance her high-powered career and family life with grace and poise.
