Sharon Stone Opens Up About Dating and Celibacy

Sharon Stone proved that glamour doesn’t make you immune to modern dating headaches. On Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown podcast, the 68-year-old actress admitted she’s chosen celibacy for some time – not out of bitterness, but by design. When Bialik asked what Stone is like “as a girlfriend,” Stone laughed and said she’s a great partner, though she hasn’t been one in a long while.

“I’m saving myself for someone I actually care about – I’m not interested in hookups that don’t mean anything,” Stone said, explaining her current stance.

She made light of the ups and downs that come with dating, saying she’s experienced good luck, bad luck and stretches with no luck at all. Right now, she’s in what she called a no-luck phase and is content to wait for the right person rather than settle for something casual.

Past Marriages

Two marriages, two chapters

Stone has been married twice. Her first marriage was to producer Michael Greenburg from 1984 to 1990, and her second was to journalist Phil Bronstein from 1998 to 2004. Both relationships belong to her past, and Stone seems to be taking a more deliberate approach to any future partnership.

Family life after marriage

She’s the mother of three adopted sons – Roan, 26; Lair, 21; and Quinn, 20 – and now that they’ve left the nest, Stone says what she wants from a relationship has shifted. With the kids grown, companionship matters more than casual chemistry for the actress.

What She’s Looking For – More Than Sex

Stone made it clear she’s tired of one-night stands and empty encounters. She’s searching for companionship and emotional connection rather than short-term physical thrills. That perspective is why celibacy has been a conscious choice for her rather than a temporary situation.

Her comments underline a common shift many experience after major life changes – priorities move from immediate gratification to deeper compatibility and shared life goals.

Psychic Prediction and the Timing of Love

The actress also shared a story about a psychic visit from when she was 23. The reader, who has done work for other stars including Tina Turner, predicted Stone would find major success in acting but hinted that true romantic happiness might come later in life – possibly not until she was nearly 70.

Stone recalled being told fame was likely, but that love might be elusive for a long time. She still doesn’t think she’s encountered the great love of her life, but she’s open to the idea that it could happen down the road.

She’s Not Alone – A Celebrity Celibacy Moment

Stone joins a growing list of public figures who have spoken about choosing celibacy. Other names in this unromantic-but-intentional moment include Julia Fox and Khloé Kardashian. Tim Gunn is another example – he’s spoken publicly about decades of abstinence, reportedly stretching more than 45 years.

Whether it’s a phase or a long-term lifestyle, the trend highlights how high-profile people are rethinking sex, relationships and what they want from romantic life as priorities shift.
